Read the news today, oh boy...

First, if I have any French, esp. Parisian, followers or page seers I hope you are all safe tonight!  I heard about the news during work.  I kept up to date through BBC.com and I almost cried in the store.  What happened was inexcusable and I hope the right perpetrators are brought to justice.  I hate how they took the easy way out and committed suicide instead of facing their actions like a courageous human being.  I also hope that if it is a religious or minority group hate crimes don't go up like they still do here in America.

I've been keeping up with the news lately so I know what's going on and for bing points.  It seems like for all of the progress there's still a lot of horrible things going on...

Syrens and NaNoWriMo has not been doing very well.  I'm not concerned about a word count as much as I am getting some progress done.  I figure if I had something to show Jake we could get the manga/comic version going once I have time.  Until then I was going to continue with my string of thought one.  A friend of mine suggested "Trying to get A(head)."  What does everyone think?

I have finally started the commission, but I'm making very slow progress on it.  I was going to do the people in pen and ink, with rough pencil or pen of the background elements.  The source image is small or poorly detailed but I'm getting by.  I'm just glad I'm not tracing over the image.  I've also been figuring out other artistic things to do.  I should really get back to timing myself, though.

Over the course of the week we had an extra cat in the house.  We took to calling him Kit Kat, or I just called him 'Kit' for short.  We thought he had been a stray for some time because he was covered in fleas, scratched a lot of his hair out because of them, and he was malnourished.  There was also one red (literally) flag with his, um... waste.  I got kind of attached to him, though.  After the first couple of nights I let him out and he hung out in my loft space.  He slept at my ankles and we kept each other warm.  What has me and the rest of the house concerned is that, he was our neighbors.  They only thought he had been missing for the week we had him.  Some of us, a few of my co-workers especially, think the authorities should be notified.  That or they could pay my roommate back the $200 (!) she spent on his exams.

Not much else is going on except holiday preparation.  If I can get my mom to remember some stuff I'll have my 9x12 envelopes for shipping prints again instead of having to go to the store.  I also found a way to send posters like that which should help.  It'll reduce shipping costs.  I'm also seriously considering putting a bunch of the stuff I've had a hard time moving on further clearance.  I at least want the cost back.  I hope that this will help me get more room for the next time I'm in Artist Alley.
